Well, this was most certainly awkward. Kasumi wasn’t accustomed to someone saving her life, she generally worked alone and wasn’t overly concerned with the well-being of others. She didn’t need to be, everything she did was meticulously planned. That’s precisely how she had stayed off the grid for so long.

At least until now.

She felt pretty terrible that Mr. Elf had been hurt so badly in an attempt to save her. That plant probably would have killed her had he not intervened, and if the plant hadn’t killed her, she would have drown in the pool of water.

A small sigh escaped her. She’d been staring at the door leading into one of Nuada’s two rooms for at least five minutes. She was glad no one had walked by as it would have been awkward to explain why she was standing in the hallway with a paper orchid, which, at this point seemed a little silly. Thanks for saving my life, here’s a crappy paper flower.

She tucked the flower into her sling and knocked on the door. At the very least, she was going to be able to ask him why he had decided to save her. Not that she was going to complain that she wasn’t dead, it was just nice to know why.

Kasumi was most certainly bored, as was illustrated by her hanging off the sofa at an awkward angle in the recreational room. Her sock-clad feet were hanging over the back of one of the chairs and her head was dipping close to the floor. The woman’s eyes were firmly locked on the hand held mobile device in her hand.

Her eyes scanned the screen. She was looking for anything in the database that would be remotely helpful. Thus far she was coming up empty and her attempts to hack into the system were being met with mostly frustration. Every time she would get through one firewall, four more would pop up and then eventually she would be booted off the server and have to start all over again. It was almost as if the system was evolving to her attacks.

She sighed heavily as she flicked to another page in the cortex. She was definitely going to have to resort to stealing things again. Clearly there was nothing better to do on the ship and the largest source of her amusement thus far. That was sad.

“Well, I think it’s settled. I’m officially in hell,” this said as she tossed her communicator onto the coffee table.

Returning something that doesn't belong to me... (Shep!)

Kasumi generally didn’t get up before 10 and it was very clear that she had just rolled out of bed shortly after sending that e-mail to Shepard. Her hair was definitely tousled and her hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants were disheveled. She was wearing the standard issue black socks. They worked well enough for her and were quieter than the sneakers she had been given.

She had the ship she’d stolen under one arm as she approached the door to Shepard’s room, “So early…” She knocked carefully on the door. Of course she could have just entered the room through the same means that she’d stolen the ship but… she was worried that might jar the ship and something may have come off of it or broken.

She was brash and could be tactless but she wasn’t a total jerk. Kasumi definitely took care of items that she had stolen. Broken items didn’t sell well and she rarely had the time to fix ones she wanted to keep.

She examined the ship carefully while she waited for the door to open. It was a cute little warship. It looked more maneuverable than well armored and the mini canons looked pretty light-weight. The front had a pretty little mermaid attached to the bow, it was surprisingly detailed for such a little ship. The ropes were real twine and taught where they needed to be. Even the crow’s nest was finely detailed. It looked like there was a tiny bottle inside along with some ropes and maybe mini binoculars. Kasumi was enamored with the details.

It was very clear some care had been taken when putting this together.

Now you see me... [Closed]

So, kidnapped by a mysterious force and dumped on an unknown space station in an unknown star system. This could be worse, Kasumi wasn’t exactly sure how it could be worse, maybe the ship could be trying to kill them or something (who knows, maybe it was quietly plotting their deaths at this very moment). She wasn’t even sure she wasn’t dead, she didn’t feel dead but she’d never been dead before so, who knows. Maybe the afterlife was just a boring space station.

“God, that’s a depressing thought,” she mumbled softly to herself as picked through files on the cortex. It looked like both EDI and Shepard were here. Or rather they both had e-mail addresses on the cortex and there were messages in their ‘To’ and ‘From’ boxes.

She hadn’t been out of that Quarantine for more than an hour before she was stealing things. The first victim of her mild kleptomania was one Gaius Baltar (not because she knew him or wished him ill, it was simply that she needed paper). Kasumi snuck quietly into the science lab and stole almost every scrap of paper sitting on the tables. It looked like he was researching what was in everyone’s blood, nanites, apparently. Good to know, she just hoped they didn’t interact poorly with her graybox. The woman enjoyed not being a human vegetable, thank you very much.

There was also something about the number six? Odd. She'd read the papers later.

Kasumi left one of the middle nanite pages for Gaius, after folding it into a careful paper rose. Leaving a calling card was dangerous for a thief and it was something Keiji had convinced her to give up, except in cases where she was being playful. She would often leave a single rose in a place only Keiji would find it if they were both contracted for the same job. It was her way of saying ‘I got here first’ and he would always sigh at her for it.

She didn’t plan on keeping anything she stole on this station so she felt the rose was a perfectly acceptable calling card here. Hours later her silent footsteps brought her to the door outside Shepard’s room. She hopped up, getting a grip on a few of the pipes lining the ceiling to make her way into the vents. She was actually surprised how easy the panel had been to pry off and how roomy the vents were, at least in comparison to other vents she’d crawled around in.

The trip was short and she silently popped the vent in Shepard’s room off before landing with a very slight puff. She looked over her shoulder to ensure the other woman was still asleep before scanning the room for something she could take.

A model ship in a glass bottle. Of course Shep would have one of those.

She left a paper rose on the stand where the bottle had once been and carefully exited the room, the door closing with a soft huff as she left. She was hoping Shepard would remember the conversation they had on her calling card. …Otherwise it might be a bit awkward explaining why she had taken to sneaking into the other woman’s room in the middle of the night to leave her a paper flower.

Well, perhaps the Commander wouldn’t jump to a conclusion. She didn’t think Shepard noticed that half the crew of the Normandy had a huge crush on her. That Kelly woman had some terrible poetry dedicated to the topic. It was endearing in that creepy kind of way.
