"I'm sorry to hear that," Gaius says, because it seems like the right kind of thing to say in this sort of situation. "I had--" he runs a finger under his nose nervously "--a similar situation."

Except Caprica didn't die. She did, but she came back. So the situations weren't entirely the same. But at the time, he thought she had died. Really died. Because he didn't know about Cylon resurrection.

"I hope so too," he says quietly. "We should, um, probably try and find something more interesting. I'm sure this is just boring you, really."

He drums a few fingers on the counter for a second, then suddenly turns around and stops in place, as if thinking. Really, there weren't really any other fascinating places on the station.

"Have you been to the Observation Deck?" he asks, turning around again suddenly.
